Post event summary
Thursday, January 22nd 2009

During the previous months the media and public discussions have been mainly gravitating around one topic: the economic crisis across all industries. Especially as marketing budgets are often cut first, the profession is prepared for a tough time ahead. What is often neglected is that change also means opportunities.

How refreshing was it that the EPWN Amsterdam kicked off its event series with an inspirational evening in which we took a different approach to look at the future:
“Crisis – what crisis? 2009 a huge opportunity for marketing talents.”

The Japanese word for crisis is “Kiki” and consists of the two words: danger and opportunity – which captures the essence of the theme of the evening.

Our guest speaker Regina Mehler, Marketing Director Central Europe and Emerging Markets at Adobe Systems has successfully dealt with a wide array of critical situation during her impressive career in the IT sector.
With a wide array of exciting and out of the box examples Regina showed us that this crisis provides the unique opportunity to do something that’s never been done before: Or would you have thought that 20 top-tier CIO’s cannot wait to ink a deal once you have introduced them to an industry legend like Bill Gates during a CIO Innovation Tour through Silicon Valley?

Therefore a crisis allows not only for marketers to do something that has never done before. Regina’s propensity to think across boarders and her innovative marketing approach has proven to be successful in all market circumstances because innovations are the base for advancement of any kind. Only innovative marketing will help in the highly competitive environment, only innovative marketing will lead to customer commitment and loyalty, and only innovation will bring new customers for further growth in this ever changing market.

Regina Mehler, Marketing Director Central Europe & Emerging Markets at Adobe Systems

During the previous months the media and public discussions have been mainly gravitating around one topic: the current and upcoming economic crisis across all industries. Especially marketing professionals, whose budgets are amongst the first to be cut, seem to have to prepare for a tough time ahead. What is often neglected in the coverage about the financial crisis is that change also means opportunities. The EPWN Amsterdam is going to kick off its event series for the New Year with an inspirational evening in which we take a different approach to look at the future: “Crisis – what crisis? 2009 a huge opportunity for marketing talents.”

Our guest speaker Regina Mehler is Marketing Director Central Europe and Emerging Markets at Adobe Systems and has successfully dealt with a wide array of critical situation during her impressive career in the IT sector. Regina has more than 20 years of marketing experience and held various marketing management positions at IT companies like Avid Technology and Siebel Systems in which she gathered a broad experience within Field- as well as Corporate Marketing. In addition to that she developed new markets in Russia and Eastern Europe.

In her previous role as Vice President Corporate Marketing Strategy at Software AG Regina impelled the positioning and establishment of the software developer and was in charge of rebranding the company worldwide as well as implementing a global marketing concept – also during a time of crisis.

Regina’s propensity to think across boarders and her innovative marketing approach has proven its success. We are very happy to welcome her to an inspiring evening in which we will question the current crisis and go on an exciting journey – looking at 2009 as a huge opportunity for inspired marketing talents. Please join us.
