Getting Started: The EuropeanPWN Online Networking Platform

Our new online, pan-European networking platform is a powerful networking tool. It has a lot of sophisticated features, but it should be easy and intuitive to use at once.

Online, you'll be able to:

  • participate in segmented discussions on the message board
  • search for peers in the directory, by local network, or across networks
  • carry on informal chats in the chatroom
  • update your 'buddy' list to keep in touch with close contacts
  • consult the calendar and one-click RSVP if applicable
  • add your own events
  • update your profile, CV, mini-bio and personal picture
  • ... and much more!

Here's a quick guide to getting started!

Getting In
Click on the Member's log-in from the EuropeanPWN-Amsterdam Web site or go directly to
www.europeanpwn.net. You'll need your ID and password to get into this space, reserved to EuropeanPWN members. If you've forgotten your ID and/or password, please click "problems with your login" and follow the instructions. If you still have problems, please contact the Webmaster.

Introduce Yourself (Click on Profile)
The most important step is to present yourself. Make sure your own biography, title and contact details are correct and up-to-date. You can modify them at any time. This is the crucial start to effective networking. We highly recommend that you include a photo of yourself. As long as you have a digital picture of yourself on your PC, you can very easily use the program to import it and crop it to size. It helps others a lot to remember who you are and where they met you.

Confidentiality and Access
You can decide how accessible and visible you would like to be online. By going into Profile and then clicking on Privacy and Email Notification, you can individually decide how much information you are willing to receive, how much you'd like to filter it and how visible you want your own messages to be.

Browse the Directory (Click on Directory)
You can take a look at all the members of the Women's International Network, including their bios and photos, you can search by title, nationality, profession or any other search term that each individual included in their bio form. You can also search for people or skills or functions in any of the other members of the European Professional Women's Network. During the fall, you will see Amsterdam, London, Sophia Antipolis, Vienna, Paris and Oslo all signing on.

What's Going On? (Click Calendar)
You can find out what events are going on in all the European Professional Women's Associations. If you're traveling, you are welcome to attend our partners' events (you can even input your travel dates and be notified of events in the city where you're headed.... You can reserve a seat at any event (if they are open to reservations) by clicking WILL ATTEND. You may also post an event if you would like to organise your own EuropeanPWN event. However, please check with the Administrators of your national association that this event is of interest to its members before posting.

Start a Discussion (Click Messages)
This is your member discussion place. Feel free to start a 'message thread' (i.e. a discussion) about any subject you want. If you are looking for a Managing Director or an Au Pair, if you would like to find other views on the Franco-American divide, if you simply want to buy or sell anything or rent an apartment, this is the place to go. Feel free, connect, this is the place where online networking will take place.

Let's Chat (Click Chatroom)
Would you like to have an online discussion with a subgroup of EuropeanPWN-Amsterdam or EuropeanPWN members? Simply book a fixed time in the Calendar for a chat, invite your colleagues or friends and chat away. You can keep an automatic transcript of your discussion. A lot easier sometimes than crossing clogged traffic or traveling across Europe for meetings.
